Access control

Access control is a protocol that identifies users by checking and comparing their login credentials, which are stored in the system. These credentials can include user names, PINs, tokens or cards, and various biometric scans. Access control systems may also include multifactor authentication (MFA), a method that requires multiple authentication methods to verify a user’s identity. For instance, checking one’s PIN and in addition, requesting a fingerprint verification as well, or card, face and iris combination, and so on.

Touchless and touch access

Touchless access is just what the word says: no touch to any scanners, readers, and, in some cases, even door handles if there is an installed automatic door opener. Some touchless instruments are iris and face scanners, palm, and card/tags readers. In many cases these products are hybrid machines, meaning that they also might have built-in card readers and keypads.

Touch access machines are fingerprint scanners, finger-vein scanner and PIN Keypad.
